The history of Techno in Texas

Techno music in Texas has a long and vibrant history, dating back to the early 1980s. At that time, Dallas and Houston were the two key cities for techno music in the state. It was here that early innovators such as DJ Rush, DJ Baby G and DJ Q-Bert spun records and created a new sound. This sound was heavily influenced by Detroit techno and Chicago house, but it also incorporated elements of hip-hop, funk, jazz and Latin music.

In the early 1990s, techno music in Texas was at its peak. It was during this time that several of the most influential techno labels in the world were based in Texas, including Plus 8 Records, G-Force Records and Armadillo Records. These labels provided a platform for local acts to release their music and gain international recognition.

In the 2000s, Texas techno underwent a resurgence, with a new generation of producers and DJs emerging and drawing influence from the past. This new wave of artists pushed the boundaries and explored different sounds, from deep house to electro-techno. Today, techno music in Texas is thriving, with events and festivals celebrating the unique sound of the state.
